Google announced Guided Vision on October 1. In Gemini Live, it describes what the camera sees and offers spoken prompts when the view needs adjusting. The change is useful to understand as a conversation about framing: the system may ask for a different angle before answering a follow-up question.

Availability is still being rolled out

The announcement lists Android 9 or later in supported Gemini Live regions and languages. The accessibility help page adds a crucial qualification: rollout is gradual, and some users may not have access yet. Meeting the stated platform requirements therefore does not establish that the option is already present on a particular phone.

Google’s help instructions begin in the Gemini mobile app: open profile settings and enable Use Guided Vision in Live, then start Live and share the camera. The page also documents accessibility shortcuts and TalkBack access. These are documented paths; we have not verified them on a device.

Descriptions are not a safety guarantee

Google warns that the feature can make mistakes. It is not a medical device or mobility aid, and it must not be used for navigation or obstacle detection. A plausible description should not replace established mobility aids or safe-travel practices.
