What can still be checked?
Adobe’s Document Productivity index has an October 7 entry describing Acrobat AI Assistant answers that can use documents and, optionally, web information with citations. The original announcement linked from that entry returned 404 in our October 14 check. The short listing supports the broad announcement; it does not establish availability for a particular account.
Which details are no longer supported here?
This revision removes the earlier descriptions of a first-use notice, an on/off toggle, document-only requests while web search is enabled, and assurances about documents not being sent to the search provider. We could not verify a working full replacement source for those details. Their removal is an evidence limit, not a finding that the features are absent or the earlier account was false.
Check the claim, then its citation
Adobe’s general user disclosures warn that answers can be inaccurate and that a source pointer can sometimes lead to an unrelated passage. A citation gives you something to inspect; it does not settle whether the claim is supported.
Try a fictional example: a sample project brief says delivery is due October 20, while an outside page describes typical delivery times. The outside estimate would not change the date written in that brief. Label which source supports which statement, open the cited passage and check its date and scope. If the link is unavailable, leave the claim unresolved rather than treating the citation as confirmation.
What this article does not verify
We have not tested Acrobat’s web-search interface, confirmed current rollout or audited how queries are transmitted or retained. General citation guidance cannot fill those gaps. The unavailable original remains listed below so the change in evidence is visible.
Update history and evidence limits
Source availability checked 13 October 2026 (UTC): Adobe’s original October 7 announcement returned a 404 error on direct retrieval. The Illustral retains the source text retrieved on October 7, and Adobe’s Document Productivity listing corroborates the announcement’s title and date. The feature description above remains attributed to that announcement; no replacement announcement or permanent public archive was verified. Additional citation guidance was checked against Adobe’s Acrobat documentation. This article does not report hands-on testing or independently verified rollout availability.
Updated October 14, 2026 (UTC), following another source check. The original announcement still returned 404. This revision narrows the description to the accessible Adobe listing, removes feature-specific controls and document-transmission assurances that could not be verified from a working replacement source, and adds a fictional citation-checking example. No hands-on product or data-handling test was performed. The original publication date is retained.
